Kenneth A. Carpenter Sr. COO and Office Manager at Carpenter Primary Healthcare PLLC announced to his family that after several deaths of family members from prostate cancer, he was a survivor/advocate. His wife, Dr. Terrell (Terri) Carpenter CEO, Medical Director would send him to patients’ room to share his story and become an advocate to those who were alarmed and in denial with their high PSA levels. As a couple they formed the perfect team to go out into the community and combine their conversations from a clinical perspective with a living survivor/advocate experience. 

Their activities lead to CPH to successfully organize a Prostate Cancer Symposium with sponsors and partners to test and educate men during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. Their goal was met with 122 men in attendance and 93 tested, the most ever done in a one-day event. The National Panhellenic Council -Memphis (Divine 9) had the difficult challenge to get men to attend this event and get tested. Prostate Conditions Education Council a national leader in increasing awareness and education provided speakers, testing and support. The City of Hope-Atlanta (formerly Cancer Center of America) provided a speaker and support. Man2Man a non-profit Prostate Cancer Support Group presented themselves to replace fear with hope and to empower all men with the information needed for a healthy physical and emotional wellbeing.
